Know2 Summer Reading Program
Concord Baptist Church will serve as a host site for a Summer Reading Program being sponsored by the Cherokee County Early Childhood Readiness Task Force in conjunction with the Know2 Organization. The initiative of the task force is to target preschool age students in the area of reading so that students are on target with reading by the end of third grade.
The Summer Reading Program will be held each Wednesday from 5:00-6:00 at the church beginning on Wednesday, June 5th. All Preschool students ages 3-5 are invited to attend the program. Through this program, children will develop the reading readiness skills they need to learn to read successfully. Your child will get excited about learning to read, and the program will lay the foundation for a strong start in reading and school. Your child will:
• Learn beginning phonics and reading readiness skills
• Build comprehension
• Develop a love of books and reading
The program includes eight weeks of classroom instruction and stimulating activities. Parents are invited to attend each class with their child and learn how to enjoy the games and activities at home. However, parent attendance IS NOT MANDATORY!! Free books will be provided to all students who attend the
program.
We are in need of volunteers to read and assist with the center activities. Please contact Loretta Holmes if you are interested in volunteering. If you can only volunteer one Wednesday out of the summer, that is fine.
We are also in need of household items for craft projects. There is a list of needed items on the table at the back of the church.
Registration forms are also located on the back table. Please complete the form and return it to Loretta Holmes.
The craft list and registration form are also available online. Download forms here.
